Fado, the traditional Portuguese song, is enchanting.It is a precious art passed down for generations, which creates an instant and deeply moving emotion in those who listen to it.
It’s a song that highlights in particular the feeling of “saudade”, which is close to nostalgia. The stories told are often about the loss of a loved one, the longing to see one’s homeland again, etc…
Hearing it in such a private and precious setting is a way of making it even more touching.You create a special bond with the artists, which you can’t find in a traditional fado restaurant — without taking anything away from the excellent quality of some of Lisbon’s fado tascas 🙂
How does the evening unfold?
On arrival at the small palace in the heart of the city, you’ll be welcomed by Daniela; you can take a tour of the premises, notably heading to the room where you can enjoy an aperitif of Portuguese petiscos and be served a delicious glass of wine.
Stroll through the palace’s magnificent rooms, and head towards the back — the view over Lisbon will leave you speechless.
The show begins…the lights dim, silence falls, the lead musician introduces the other artists and begins to play. You’ll be swept away by various fado tunes, with wonderful singers… But that’s not all! Bossa nova and jazz are also played by these passionate performers.
Time stops to make way for pure emotion; an unforgettable moment.
