
Let’s cast off the moorings today inthe magnificent fishing town south of Lisbon: Setúbal!
This town bordering the Sado estuary, where dolphins come to swim, is ajewel of architecture and culture. From its streets with the small traditional houses of the town centre, to its marina and port, its delicious gastronomy, its magnificent church of Gothic and Manueline architecture dating from the 15th century, and its convent hidden in the middle of one of the country’s most beautiful natural parks,Setúbal amazes all the lucky ones who visit it. The municipality of Setúbal also includes many surrounding villages, which brings a rich diversity!
Not so long ago, the town was home to dozens of sardine and salt factories: they have all disappeared today. Just like life of yesteryear, which we retrace todaythrough sublime period photos:
