The fortified village of Óbidos, Portugal

A fortified town, one hour from Lisbon by car, that has always attracted visitors from all over the world with its beauty, its culture and its location? We are of course talking about Óbidos!

With its white houses trimmed with yellow, blue or even black, its castle and Moorish wall open to visitors, the magnificent town gates through which you enter, its local craft shops, its delicious restaurants, its festivals known throughout the country (medieval, Harry Potter…) and the secrets that only Travel to Lisbon reveals to the travellers who trust us to organise their stay in Portugal… Óbidos is a must-see — far from mass tourism, with secrets included in your personalised travel book 🙂 (see “OUR OFFER”).

In short, Óbidos is a little gem which, through old black-and-white photographs made available by the superb library of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, is sure to catch your eye!
